Supported Independent Living Program

The Woodley House comprehensive Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (MHRS) program is for residents of Woodley House and for others in the community who are in need of Life Skills Training. It is a lifeline for consumers to attain their goals of greater independence and a return to the community. Woodley House staff meets with the individual and his or her treatment team to determine specific skill sets needed and then works with the consumer to master those skills. Skills Training Specialists work with consumers both individually and in groups on an on-going basis, meeting at least one or more times per week.

The Woodley House Day Program meets 5 mornings/week and is especially beneficial to the individual who is coming to our Supported Independent Living Apartment Program from outside our organization or from an extended stay in a psychiatric hospital. We created this Day Program because we saw that residents coming to us from the community who had not received our MHRS training had far greater difficulty in successfully transitioning to our semi-independent apartments.

We realized that they could benefit from the training that our residents of Valenti House and Holly House had received. To date, it has made a great difference in preparing our newer residents to living with greater independence.
